Are your feet on the ground?

These are heady times. It is completely normal to have many different worries and thoughts passing through you, when daily events are so far from our usual experience.

A great question to ask yourself when you find you are anxious, or that your thoughts are racing, is ‘Are my feet on the ground?’ If not, place them on the ground.

Then, take your attention down into your feet. Explore the sensation of them being there, in contact with the floor. How do they feel? What do you notice about yourself more widely when you are connected to the earth this way?

Any time life becomes discombobulating, dropping down into the body, and particularly into contact with the ground can be very useful. It reminds us of what else is here, as well as the thoughts and emotions that are passing through us.
