I began working as a psychotherapist in 2011, and relocated to Durham in 2012. I had been doing personal development work 1:1 for many years before this, working as a coach, mentor and trainer in organisations as well as being a life coach. I became a psychotherapist having received excellent support through some difficult times in my life, I felt called to give back and to support others in their life journey. I love my work, for me it is a calling. Sitting with clients and being a part of their healing is an emormous priviledge.
Since becoming a psychotherapist I have worked with a number of organisations, My Sister's Place in Middlesbrough, The Lighthouse in Stockton on Tees, and the NHS in Primary Care across Stockton, Billingham and Hartlepool. Working full time as a psychotherapist means I have worked with thousands of clients with a wide range of issues.
I am accredited by the United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy and Registered with the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy. In 2013 I trained as a Clinical Supervisor, and can now supervise counsellors, psychotherapists, and trainees.
Also in 2013 I qualified as an Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing therapist, I am currently in the final stages of working towards accreditation as an EMDR Practitioner through EMDR UK & Ireland. I have worked with many clients to resolve upsetting past events both in the NHS and privately.
Early in 2017 I did some top up training to qualify to work with Couples as well as individuals. I believe my couples work draws on the depth and breadth of my individual client work over the years, this is an energising and interesting field of work that I feel privileged to have entered.
Before becoming a psychotherapist my career spanned HR, Organisation Development and Learning and Development. My corporate experience involved working with a range of blue chip organisations across various sectors, I have a track record of making change happen by enabling new insights and supporting meaningful dialogue. My areas of work included employee engagement, leadership and personal development programmes, executive coaching, communications, resolving team conflicts and facilitating transformation programmes.
